Double-Thick Hexagon Potholder Front

I kind of made up my own crochet pattern! Not really, but a little. :)

This is the front and shows the first hex made at the center. The hexes around the edge were crocheted on in turn, as they were finished, leaving one hexagonal hole at the back. That hex was crocheted on last.

The yarn is a mix of Tahki Cotton Classic and Elann Sonata on a 2.5mm hook. This potholder took 53 grams of yarn.

I used the awesome Attic 24's hex how-to. Check there for how to make the hexes and connect them as you go.

This potholder is 6.5" across on flat edges, 7" from point to point.

The loop is made by single crocheting around a plastic drapery ring. I did this when adding the last edge hex, pausing when joining two corners, right at the edge, to attach the ring. It's all rather seamless and lovely.
