At the junction of Newton St/London Rd/Piccadilly in this early postwar view. Still wearing its original 1937 style of prewar livery, the off white parts repainted in wartime grey.
As with the pic of 564, 617 has lost its nearside "fairing" although the streamlined swoop is painted in a different style on the leading panel.
634 appears to be heading for Chorlton on route 82x. Interesting that the bonnet side is hanging loose, a feature commented on by Geoff Hilditch who frequently observed prewar Crossleys as such.
Just wish I'd been there to hear the whining and growling of a type some named "grumpys".
1940 Leyland TB5 English Electric trolleybus 1125 heads for Portland St to take up service on the Stalybridge route 28 (renumbered 218 in 1950) with a further postwar repainted "grumpy" following.
