a special treat
We hadn't planned to take both Mason and Avery with us to another Monarchs basketball game this season, ... but well, it just sorta worked out.
Today was Game 2 for the first round of the West Coast Conference championships, after the Monarchs had already beat their contenders in Houston for Game 1. We didn't have a nurse available today, so it meant only one of us going to the game with a friend and the other staying home with the boys and watching the game on TV. We were actually OK with this plan, but we were presented with a hard-to-refuse option.
Mary had been back and forth on email with our ticket rep for a couple of days discussing options for adding two more seats to our season ticket package for next season. The ticket rep had learned about our boys and knew we weren't going to both be able to attend the game today. A couple of days ago we received a call from her offering us a luxury suite that had become available. How much? we asked. No cost! 8 tickets would be waiting for us at will call.
So, we rounded up a few friends at the last minute and packed up the boys, (including Avery's new handy dandy shoulder bag to fit his new handy dandy mini O2 tank) and headed to the game today. So, we enjoyed the game from a huge suite with multiple seating options for a great view of the court. We definitely enjoyed the extra amenities of a sink packed with drinks and a popcorn machine full of the freshly popped yellow stuff. A large plasma screen and a private bathroom added to the conveniences.
What was most important, is that we were all able to go to the game together as a family after all and even enjoy it with good friends. We had plenty of space to help keep Avery in a place that he was comfortable and not too overwhelmed by the action. There was space to feed him and allow him to roll around on the carpet for a bit. Mason enjoyed the ability to crawl around safely as well and was thrilled to socialize with the older kids that came along.
What a treat! And to top things off, the Monarchs played an incredible game and finished off the series with a victory.
