Stumpy on Patrol, again

We used to think that Stumpy our tailless cat was an unfortunate kitten that had had its tail bitten off by its mother at birth, but following comments by some of my Flickr contacts including Barbara from the Isle of Man, and having heard that several litters born on this island include kittens born without tails, it seems that the Manx cat gene, or similar, is common among the barn cats of the Isle of Lewis !

Not only do they just have a stump for a tail, they share other Manx traits such as long back legs, a short back, and stocky build. Our Stumpy also has soft silky fur, is very intelligent, plays and interacts like a dog, and talks to us ....erm..... alright, best forget that last bit :-)
