The granite hills of Domboshava, 30 kilometres north of Harare and a popular spot for a day trip from the city.
The name Domboshava is derived from the Shona words dombo meaning “rock” and shava meaning “light brown”. The hill is a National Monument of Zimbabwe and has some examples of San (bushman) cave paintings which might be as much as 6,000 years old. It also has beautiful views of the surrounding Mashonaland countryside, dotted with the rock columns that are its most distinctive feature.
