Extra caution is due when playing the 3rd hole
More than your average hazard here.
Elk populations in Rocky Mountain National Park and in neighboring Estes Park are reaching problem levels. There is talk, albeit quietly, of culling the herds. Some governmental experts want to pay sharpshooters thousands of dollars to shoot them at night when tourists and animal activists are not watching. Funny thing is, many hunters would pay thousands of dollars for a chance to shoot an elk. Obviously, shooting them is fraught with problems no matter who has their finger on the trigger and hunting is strictly prohibited within the national park's boundaries.
Too many elk? One man's opinion.
