150,000 Acres & Going

Today I ventured into the decimated landscape left behind by the raging Station Fire in/near Pasadena/Altadena. It's an utter wasteland, but rarely have I had such a photographically productive few hours. I hope you can handle a few depressing yet artistic renditions of the carnage.

For this image I put on my Singh Ray Vari ND to get a 5 sec exposure, during which I tossed a few handfuls of ash in the air. The place still smells like a barbecue, and I wanted that stuffy unhealthy feeling to come through.

On a good note, on my way out I was serenaded by owls and crickets, and a hummingbird came to check out my hat, twice. Life will return...
