Lambskin leather reuse
The Aggie Rings and I’ve been trying to determine what to do with this goatsskin A-2 Aviator Jacket that I’ve replaced after 25 years of service. The leather is all in great condition except for the collar which is shot.
While I was holding my trumpet the other day, It occurred to me that the thickness of the leather would be perfect for using to make trumpet valve guards. I’ll have to take the coat up to a local cobbler and see what she says, but I think there’s enough leather to make at least 15 real leather trumpet valve guards.
I would probably keep a couple for myself and see what the rest would go for on eBay.
