Relief aid for Malians displaced by the conflict

Soumbou and her family are living with a host family that took them in. Sebi, the village Soumbou is from, was taken over by violence, and so she and her family left all they had behind and fled.

“In my hometown, we were constantly threatened by attacks, torture, killings and all kinds of violence,” says Soumbou.

“To survive, I make traditional mats. Whatever I earn, I spend it all on food, housing, and for the children.”

Soumbou and her family receive cash transfers to help cover basic needs. “The assistance I receive, I also share it with my host. I also pay with it medicine for the children and buy washing soap, so this help is very useful to me.”
