used a flashlight, targeted at a white piece of paper behind an old baking plate. the piece of paper reflected the light and brought me that nice and softly shining light from behind. you can make out the kinda "destroyed" surface of the plate.

for the blue look i just set the white balance to tungsten, that the image "cooled down" from shining white to a cold blue.
