There’s really nothing like seeing a Spielberg / John Williams film for the first time in the theater and getting all caught up in the science fiction fantasy of what would happen on earth if we suddenly discovered that we are not alone in the cosmos. The real magic of these films is their realism… it’s not so unbelievable that the reactions and trials and tribulations of earth would radically shift if we found extraterrestrial life. And when my mind wanders to that, my mind wanders to the places on earth where I feel the most connected to the stars and the cosmos and other planets. White Pocket, Arizona, just might be the surface of Mars, staring into the abyss of the Milky Way at night.
️- across Utah and Arizona, you are in the Navajo Nation. In Navajo, sacred land is referred to as Diné Bikéyah. This land belongs to the people. Hopitutskwa, Pueblos, and Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) land is also found across these two states and at archeological sites and natural sites. It is an honor to see them. White Pocket is most closely associated with Southern Paiute land.
