The main goal was to transform a face into light and shade section in order to obtain a simple pattern out of the shadows cast on the face. In my first sketch I used smooth pencil blending in order to obtain the softness of the female skin. My next step was to divide the face into light and dark, creating basic shapes out of it without losing the facial structure and features. In my last interpretation I extended the dimensions of the face in the background without losing the face itself , thus obtaining a semi-abstract pattern. The choice of the colour-scheme (pinks and purple) was purposely chosen to enhance the femininity in this work.
