as a result of shaun's stroke, his body was almost entirely paralyzed with the exception of his face - he can somewhat control his expressions but cannot speak. as a result his feet were placed into plaster casts to keep them in a set position (he is currently in a special chair that was specifically created for him, and he stays in the same position day in and day out).
