Building Africa Awareness in American Classrooms
ELF Jessica Griner and New York educator Jennie Weinberger teamed up to create a “penpal’s
with Africa” program with the Montessori School of Syracuse. Ms. Weinberger’s students
(8 in total) wrote letters asking questions about Rwanda to ELF Jessica. Once received in
Rwanda, Jessica and the INATEK English Club students wrote letters in response and sent a
package containing a Rwandan flag and traditional doll to the Syracuse students.
