Globular Springtail - Allacma fusca juvenile
I went back to the woodland today where I photographed the Allacma fusca springtails recently. I found a few more including this one, which I'm assuming is an Allacma fusca juvenile. At 1.5mm it was much smaller than the adults I've seen, was paler and considerably more "sprightly". This one was scurrying along a piece of rotten wood.
Interestingly, I had a good look through some other areas of woodland about 100m from where I photographed these, and found none at all. I suspect it may be due to slight differences in levels of moisture on the woodland floor. I just count myself lucky that I've found an area that's particularly productive!
Canon 5D3 + MP-E 65mm Macro (at x5) + MT24-EX TwinLite Flash.
