"Shaggy"

"Shaggy" is a Jungle carpet python (Morelia spilota cheynei). a native of Northern Queensland, Australia. Carpet pythons are moderate in size growing to 5-6 feet in length. They are called "carpet" pythons because their pattern was thought to resemble an Oriental rug. "Shaggy" was adopted after the folks who had purchased him at a pet store were unable to care for him. The pet store had not provided any information on how to care for carpet pythons. "Shaggy" was bred and hatched in captivity, not taken from the wild, which is a good thing. "Shaggy" had just finished shedding his skin when this picture was taken so his colors are very bright. Can you find "Shaggy's" head? View large or original sizes to see detail of scales.
