1987 Ferrari 328 GTS
Chassis No. ZFFXA20A2H0068619
Introduced in 1985, the Ferrari 328 replaced the 308, and although the greenhouse remained unchanged, by smoothing out some of the 308’s more angular lines, Pininfarina managed to modernise the design and improve its aerodynamic efficiency. In GTS guise, the vinyl-covered removable roof section was carried over from the 308. Tipping the scales at 1,435 kgs, the 328 GTS was considerably lighter than its predecessor, and its 90-degree Ferrari V8 had been bored and stroked to gain 200 cc of displacement. All told, the car could sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in under six seconds and, with 270 bhp on tap, was fully capable of reaching redline in top gear, which made it an exceptionally entertaining car to drive vigorously.
Finished in Nero (black) over tan hides, this 328 GTS is an exceptionally well presented and usable example. The car has spent its entire life in sunny San Diego and displays only 42,645 recorded miles from new.
This Ferrari was recently subjected a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration to preserve its stunning appearance. All paintwork and trim were beautifully refreshed, as well as the powerplant, which received a “Full Service” by renowned Ferrari specialists at Bobileff Motorcar Company in San Diego, California.
A modern day classic, it offers the best in open Ferrari motoring with the benefits of capital appreciation and the heritage of the mid-engined V8 Ferraris. Original tools with roll, emergency kit, jack, cover, spare assembly, manual and clean CarFax accompany this example.
