356 History: The Porsche 356 was the company's first production automobile. It was a lightweight and nimble handling rear-engine rear-wheel-drive 2 door sports car, available in hardtop and convertible configurations. Design innovations continued during the years of manufacture, contributing to its motorsports success and popularity. Production started in 1948 at Gmünd, Austria where approximately 50 cars were built. In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen, Germany and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, although 1963 was the last year for the 356B, soon succeeded by the 356C.
Presented here, is a superb presentation of a 356 B Coupe. This matching numbers example was fully and completely restored in 2003, no detail was overlooked. With the cost of restoration in excess of $30,000, no expense was spared either. The quality restoration coupled along with the gorgeous color combination of this 356, sets it apart from many others (silver metallic finish complementing stunning red leatherette interior). The mechanicals, electrical system, drive train and brakes run smoothly and reliably as they should. A very solid driver!
The car is accompanied by all the accessories and documentation that are so important for a serious collector; original set of wheels (un-restored), original steering wheel (un-restored), spare tire, original tool kit, two sets of keys, Driver’s Manual, car cover, extensive restoration documentation, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
