Flickr folks know him as Camera_Ed, and now he's a friend of mine as well as a contact here.
Ed's a gracious Southern gentleman (complete with an accent as smooth as honey) with a lot of knowledge of photography and cameras to boot. We met up for brunch on Sunday at Mel's Drive In here in beautiful downtown Hollywood -- still merely a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, rather than a municipality in its own right, much to the surprise of many -- before heading out to go camera shopping. (Photos of my two new toys will be forthcoming.)
