Tomb of the lasr Czar and family St Petersburg

Tombs of Nicholas II and Alexandra, the Royal family, and their servants. In 1998 the last Czar and his family were finally buried with full honour in the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul. exactly 80 years after their murder by the Bolsheviks in Ekaterinburg.

"In the last Orthodox Russian monarch and members of his family we see people who sincerely strove to incarnate in their lives the commands of the Gospel. In the suffering borne by the Royal Family in prison with humility, patience, and meekness, and in their martyrs deaths in Ekaterinburg in the night of 4/17 July 1918 was revealed the light of the faith of Christ that conquers evil." Statement by the Russian Orthodox Church.

I found the atmosphere at this grave almost over-whelming.

Nicholas II was estimated to have been the third richest man in history.
