SHADOW MOUNTAINS

Photograph taken at 13:47pm on Monday 9th September 2013 off the A82 between Drymen and Aberfoyle, in the Queen Elizabeth Forest on the shoreline of Loch Lomond in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Scotland.

 

 

This view looks across the Loch towards Luss and further afield, part of the horseshoe ridge encircling Glen Striddle. Its eastern arm rises directly from the village of Luss, which is protected by Beinn Dubh and Cruach Dhubh.

 

 

Loch Lomond (Loch Laomainn), a freshwater loch situated on the Highland Boundary fault, is the largest inland stretch of water by surface area in Great Britain, at 39km in length and up to 8km in width with a maximum depth of 190metres. Primary inflows and outflows include Endrick water, Fruin water and the River Leven.
