Photography homage, Les Krims, July 4th float, Frontier Days, Prescott, Arizona

The educator, Les Krims, is noted for his staged photos. This, in turn, was staged by the Potter's House, a Pentecostal fundamentalist church headquartered in Prescott, Arizona. They are super zealous in their faith. The man playing Christ on the cross certainly was. It was very exhausting being stretched out and anchored on a narrow block of wood. This is the annual July 4th Frontier Days celebration in Prescott, Arizona; which includes this parade and rodeo. (Started in 1888, the rodeo is the world's oldest.)

 

30 years earlier both the parade and rodeo were filmed for Sam Peckinpah's "Junior Bonner," starring Steve McQueen.
