So we survived the storm. We had some rather serious thunder snow. The thunder and lightening in the midst of the blizzard were quite impressive. Someone a few blocks from me lost power but our lights only flashed a few times. I was much more worried about the people who were stuck on Lake Shore Drive for over 9-12 hours.
This morning I went for a quick walk around the University of Chicago campus. This drift was in the Classics Quad. I encountered another drift that was taller than me, and I am going to estimate was 7feet tall at least. They are saying that this is the 3rd largest snow on record for Chicago.
