To fit into the convenience of our society, movie theaters are now allowing people to purchase tickets online prior to a movie showing. About 23% of movie tickets prior to 2006 were purchased online. Online movie ticket sales, however, make up only a small part of box-office receipts, which totaled a record $9.4 billion last year.
