From the website: The Dairy Barn Star Block & Quilt National Block Built in 1914, the Dairy

Barn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features three

cupolas. It sits on 36 acres of scenic pastoral land and was at one time a

working dairy barn for the state asylum. Nine days before demolition Harriet and Ora

Anderson petitioned the governor and eventually turned it into a community art center. The QN quilt block is based on a quilt made by Porter Smith Thayer in 1979, the inaugural year of Quilt National, a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary and innovative quilts shown on odd numbered years atThe Dairy BarnArts Center.
