Harrison County Courthouse (Cynthiana, Kentucky)
This delightful Greek Revival courthouse was built in 1851 by architect/contractor John Huddleston. It was expanded in 1856, 1877, and finally in 1915. The last expansion was designed by architect John T. Gillig. This facility replaced the county's original 1790 log cabin courthouse that still stands immediately to the west of this site on Court Street. In 2002 the current Harrison County Justice Center was built, also behind this site on Court Street.
The Harrison County Courthouse was individually placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and also is a contributing property to the Cynthiana Commercial District, listed in 1982.
