PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 25, 2011) - Sailors aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) fuel two F/A-18 jets on the ship’s flight deck. George Washington Sailors conduct daily maintenance and routine fueling to the ship’s aircraft to ensure that the ship and her embarked air wing can continue to conduct her operations. George Washington pulled out of her forward-operating port of Yokosuka, Japan Sept. 19 to continue her 2011 patrol. As the Navy’s only full-time forward deployed carrier, George Washington’s mission is to help ensure security and stability in the Western Pacific Ocean.
