PACIFIC OCEAN (March 31, 2011) - Logistics Specialist 1st Class Aaron Gilmore directs a forklift aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during an underway replenishment with the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4). Essex, with the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently operating off the coast of Kesennuma, in northeastern Japan, in support of Operation Tomodachi.
