MUTSU BAY Japan (July 23, 2016) An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5, searches the hull of the JS Bungo in the Mutsu Bay off the coast of Japan during the 2JA 2016 Mine Countermeasure Exercise (2JA-16 MCMEX). 2JA Mine Countermeasures Exercise is an annual bilateral exercise between the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiencies in mine countermeasure operations.
