Ricketts Glen State Park
Ricketts Glen State Park is home to the Glens Natural Area, a Nati onal Natural Landmark. Take the Falls Trail and explore the Glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-fl owing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn cleft s in this ancient hillside. The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of the 22 names waterfalls. Various other trails are available, varying in length up to 26 miles. A 12.5 miles equestrian
trail is available as well as 20 miles of snowmobile and cross-country skiing trails. Ice climbing is permitt ed, when conditi ons allow. Old growth forest and diverse wildlife also att ract visitors to this park. The park is famous for its exceptional diversity of bird life, from 23 varieti es of warblers to bald eagles. About 10,144 acres are open to hunti ng, trapping and the training of dogs during established seasons. Common game species are deer, turkey, grouse, bear, coyote, pheasant and squirrel. Common furbearers are raccoon, mink, muskrat, beaver, coyote and
bobcat. About 83,000 acreas of state game lands lie to the west and north of the park. The 245-acre Lake Jean has warm water game fi sh, pan fi sh and trout. All PA Fish & Boat rules and regulati on apply. The 600-foot beach is open from late-May to mid-September; 8am to sunset. Swimming is at your own rick. Seasonal Boat
Rental and Food Concessions are available near the beach area from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Environmental Education programs are also available through the park service.
