Beautiful Show Gardens on display on the opening day of the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show
The High Maintenance Garden (designed by Sue Hayward), one of the six beautiful and elegant Artisan gardens on display at the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show which opened today in the 11-acre grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, United Kingdom - 20 May 2019
The garden is a loved space, created over many years of hard work that is gradually being overtaken by nature. The space depicts the limitations of what can be maintained when suffering from a condition such as MND where the senses and mind are still active but the body can be locked in.
There are 26 themed gardens on display at this year’s show as well as over 100 plant displays in the Great Pavilion. New plants are often launched at the show and the popularity of older varieties revived, it is, in effect, the garden design equivalent of a catwalk at a fashion show.
