Nice solar prominence from Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 using a 0.5-angstrom Coronado 90mm hydrogen-alpha solar telescope at Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus in Texas.
Visually, it was even more impressive than in this CCD image. Seeing was about average.
Just for comparison, the prominence seen here is several times the size of Earth ...
