When you apply multiple alignment points in processing (called MAP), the intersections of the processing areas can cause artifacts in the image, particularly if your stacking is not adequately "feathered" and if you apply aggressive sharpening enhancements. This overlay shows those intersections. You can display it to determine where to look in the processed image to locate artifacts.
