Public fishing and paddle launch in Luzerne County, Pa.

A tract of land along the Susquehanna River that was hard-hit by Tropical Storm Lee in 2011 now offers a fishing area and boat launch for kayaks and small vessels in Plains Township, Pa., on Aug. 28, 2019. The township purchased the land as a flood resiliency measure. It was formerly the site of flood-prone buildings which have since been torn down in order to keep the buyout properties undeveloped.
