Military Partners in Chesapeake Bay Restoration

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson and Maryland's Military Base Commanders meet at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., to engage Maryland's military installations in the state's Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts on August 25, 2010. “The health of the Chesapeake depends on strong partnerships between all of the bay's stakeholders, and in particular the states which border the region," said Mabus. "I look forward to continuing to work closely with the State of Maryland to ensure that the military's presence on the bay is in accordance with environmental and clean water standards, and that we strive to make the Chesapeake Bay clean and hospitable."
