The bogie suspension system is consisted of coil primary suspension with a one-sided, wear-free wheelset guidance, and flexicoil secondary suspension (the support of the carbody on the bogie) realised secondary coil springs. Tractive forces from bogie to locomotive are transferred via traction rods connected to a low lying connection at the bogie pivot centre. This bogie design utilising two-stage flexicoil suspension is new for Russian mainline locomotives and was used only recently in EP20 low-seria advanced dual-system passenger locomotive developed by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ) in cooperation with Alstom.
Perspective AC electric freight locomotive 2ЭС11 was developed by the Ural Locomotives (Sinara Transport Machines). In contrast to previous modern models of the Malachite family (8800 kW AC electric 2ЭС7 and DC electric 2ЭС10) it slightly less powered (8000 kW) but has electrical equipment including power inverters on IGBTs and asynchronous traction motors all made in Russia that replaced ceased components produced by Siemens.
