"Dapper"

Ravens Cove Start Point South Hams Coast Devon.

"Ramblings"

The weather today along coast west side of Start point certainly felt proper autumnal even in the sunshine with a persistent gusty North-North-Easterly blowing across Ravens cove..

Shorts and t-shirt South facing gardening Saturday but well pleased I opted for trousers and a thermal vest layer for today`s outing with the camera especially as I`m sat for long periods without mutch in the way of shelter with this wind direction.

Besides the seabirds passing or briefly stopping its Pied Wagtails, Rock Pipits and Robins in regular attendance around me at the cove.

I often spot quite a few Wheatear around this area October time but only the one fidgety male briefly seen at a distance with the binoculars.

No doubt most have done the off by now?

Early morning there were Bluefin Tuna breaching and big numbers of Gannets feeding off the point and over Black stone rocks.

Its a little frustrating as the Gannets are always just that little too far out even if your standing at the lighthouse its not often your get frame filler flypast.

Occasionally down at Ravens cove you get the odd Gannets passing reasonably close to land doing a few turns then quickly out to sea again.

Been spoilt in the past with a few visits to Bempton cliffs having the Gannets up close and personal so Start Point ain`t never gonna compete with that spectacle.
