JOINT USERS INTEROPERABILITY COMMUNICATIONS EXERCISE

Steven Moses, government technical integration specialist with REDCOM, a contract company specializing in research and development communications, compares the SLICE-Internet protocol Micro, a telecommunications switch capable of hosting up to 3,000 subscribers, to its larger predecessor on the right. This smaller switch significantly reduces the size of the equipment Warfighters carry in the field, increases mobility and requires less fuel to transport in operational environments. The SLICE-IP is being used during the 2011 Joint Users Interoperability Communications Exercise June 6-24 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
