Me with the video camera
Here I am, probably the spring of 1976, with a Sony Portapak recording some sort of event on the Evergreen State College campus where I was a student. The Portpak was the first portable video system. Black and white only. Half-inch reel-to-reel tape. And editing was when the fun really began (it involved marking the tape with a grease pencil and not ever making a mistake because there was no undo). But, it worked and we did video stories with it. Now, I can do things on my desktop that we'd have killed for 30 years ago. Progress! It's interesting that I'm wearing a semi-dress shirt. Normally, I only wore sweatshirts and blue jeans. Can't imagine why I was dressed up this day. And, of course, there was all that hair. We all had hair. Lots and lots of it. Long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy, ratty, batty ...
Should note that my friend, Ti Locke, shot this photo on real black and white film.
