Charles River, September 2009
As foreseen by prophesy, summer pretty much gave up trying this year, so by the time fall started at the end of September, we already had cooler weather and the leaves were starting to change color. They're still mostly green for now, but I'm thinking of getting weekly photos until the leaves are gone just to get a better sense of the flow of the colors this time of year, which of course seems to have more change than any othr time.
I tried something different with this one. For most of these, as for most of the photos I take in general, I just leave the settings on automatic and fire away. (Because, really, what's the point of having a big fancy camera if you're just going to booger up your pictures with oddball manual settings, right? *cough*)
In this case, instead of automatic exposure, I locked in a f/3.5 aperture (the widest my main lens can do), which in turn meant a 1/1600 sec exposure. I kind of like how this brought out the sparklies in the reflection at the lower right, and everything is far enough away that depth of field wasn't really a problem. On the other hand, the trees at the right are darker in this version than the automatic exposure ones I took today, but then on the other other hand the details look sharper. In the end, I can't quite decide if I like this version more or less than others in the series, but if it's a failed experiment then it's a small failure.
