McCoy Flat Reservoir is a flood control/irrigation storage reservoir that sits at nearly 6000 feet elevation and can be a very beautiful place year round for anyone who takes the time to actually stop and take it in. It sits on the edge of California State Route 44 and hundreds of vehicles just scurry by it daily. During periods where it holds water for a few years trout are usually planted in it and they grow very fast due to the plentiful forage available to them.
