Tui, Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae, 30 cm. / 11.8 in. COMMON. Abundant ENDEMIC honeyeater of native forest and scrub, farmland with kowhai, gums and flax, parks and gardens. Here feeding on New Zealand Flax, Phormium tenax. There are two tufts of white feathers at the throat - called "poi".
