Those who frequently drive along the old River Road in Bristol Indiana may have been surprised to see that the usual waving stalks of corn had been replaced with potatoes this year that were harvested in the past week. Semis and machinery and the crew that came with them spent a long day at work in the field. A report from Purdue University indicates that Indiana farmers may have to change the types of crops they grow and the timing, due to expected warmer wetter weather ahead. Potatoes have become a profitable crop with demand from potato chip makers and McDonald french fries producers. Which might this crop become? No current report on that. On a hot and sultry afternoon, the air-conditioned downtown Chicago Deli was a welcome place for 3 local ladies to spend a few minutes enjoying conversation and cold drinks. This may also have involved pizza - but that was long gone before the photo was taken. The local Beachy family enjoys their home along the St. Joe River in downtown Bristol, and like to invite family and friends to come for an event like the recent Beachy Bristol Bash with a carnival theme featuring food and fun.
