Here is a closeup view of the more or less homogenized soil mixture. I rather strictly adhered to Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot Garden soil recipe: 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 compost. He recommends a minimum of five compost ingredients. Mine included cow manure and humus, cotton burrs, mushroom and hay with chicken poop.
