Wishing tree, Muhammad ibn Zayd Mausoleum, Merv, Turkmenistan

This mausoleum was built in honor of Muhammad ibn Zayd Mausoleum, an 8th and 9th century Shi'ite cleric who worked to spread Shi'ism to the whole of Iraq. Zayd was particularly active during the turbulent era of Al-Ma'mun, the 7th Caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate, who ruled from 813-833.
