Beer Challenge Walking Tour
I decided to join a walking tour in Munich and since the Oktoberfest is the famous festival here, why not a beer tour? I like beer, walking and Munich. Perfect!
The tour met at the Hauptbahnhof at 6pm and a group of perhaps 30 travelers converged in front of the Starbucks location. The tour was lead by the lovely lady, Liz, who was really cool and knowlegeable of beer and Munich. I decided not to bring my large dSlr with me and just my iPhone, so excuse the craptastic photos. (It was dark and I wasn't used to drinking this much beer!)
I digress...we headed to four beer halls (although the last was not one but I was thankful we ended up at that bar-more on that later). Included with the price of the tour were two beers and a shot of Jaegermeister. :-) We went to Paulaner, Hofbrauhaus (famous famous!!) and Augustinner Brewer...and the Euro Youth Hostel bar. Yup...a youth hostel bar but at the end of the night, when the I finally felt the effects of the 2.5L beers and shot of jaeger, I could just stagger upstairs to my cosy private room I decided to book -- and a good thing I did too because it got pretty ugly. (I have seriously lost my drinking touch, it's rather sad).
Anyway, i had to add this story cos it was damn fun and memorable. I even met Brett who came from Covina!!! And plenty of others, from Japan, Korea, Australia, Arizona, and Germany....so awesome!!!
