The bones
I've never made it a secret how much I love the fit and ride quality of my 1971 Raleigh International. So here we are, with the bare bones of my rando build. I need a new rear wheel and cables. And while Gatorskins are just about the most indestructible tires I've ever ridden - and they are by no means sluggish either - I've got room for 38's and would like to get a nice, supple wide tire onto those rims. I'll probably fabricate a different bracket for the light, then move it lower and onto the left of the front rack while I'm changing things around.
Crank is Stronglight 99 triple, with 170 arms and 48/40/28 chainrings. There's a seven speed freewheel going in back with a low gear of 28t. I'm debating which rear derailleur to use - I've got several good ones to select from. Right now there's a LePree on back, but I may go with a first generation Cyclone instead. The front mech is MounTech. The gears will be pulled by bar ends - again, I've got several pairs to select from. But since I'll be running friction it really won't make a lot of difference which gets used.
