Avison Ensemble First Act Theatre Rebellion project, Bamburgh Castle, Sept 2010
As part of the Avison Ensemble Jacobite Rebellion concert at Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland, performers from First Act Theatre wrote, directed and filmed scenes re-enacting the escape of Jacobite rebels from the Tower of London. The dramatic architecture and Jacobite associations of Bamburgh Castle were a perfect backdrop for this exciting project.
The Avison Ensemble is delighted to be working again with First Act Theatre - the youth training theatre based in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Avison Ensemble is the outstanding period instrument orchestra based in Newcastle upon Tyne, which plays and popularises the music of Charles Avison (1709-1770) and other English classical composers of the Baroque period, such as Garth, Arne and Herschel. The Ensemble also performs Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli, Geminiani, Pergolesi, Teleman, Rameau, Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.
