Link Light Rail Testing - Emergency Response Drill

by Atomic Taco

On Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 from 9am to 12:00pm Sound Transit conducted a simulated emergency response drill at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Cloverdale Streets. The Seattle Police Department was assigned to re-route traffic at closed intersections.
The drill simulated an accident involving a Link light rail vehicle and an SUV automobile. Equipment and personnel were mobilized from the Sound Transit Police, King County Sheriff, Seattle Police Department, Seattle Fire Department and emergency response teams from neighboring jurisdictions.

In some of the video you can hear communications from my two scanners; mostly it's Sound Transit's "Mainline OPS 1" and Seattle Fire's "Battalion 5 Training Channel". I do apologize for the shakey video; I didn't have a tripod.

My vantage point was in the pea patch at MLK and Cloverdale. I found a spot far enough away to be out of the way but close enough to see. I also had room to set my scanners down.
