“Animal Awareness” Commission

The protest camps have a peaceful, festive air. Among the many activities that take place during the day, there are so-called commissions that discuss ways to make the world a better, fairer place.

 

These commissions promote the idea that citizens have to speak out and try to find solutions to the problems that concern them, implying that government is too important to be left in the hands of self-serving politicians.

 

Far right media make much of hand-picking the most extreme proposals put before any one of these commissions and turning them into front-page headlines in an attempt to imply, to little avail, that some sort of ill-meaning extreme-left revolutionary movement is secretly behind the protests. The political caste insists that the protests are about government spending cuts (presumably the international media gets their information from politicians). Most everyone else sympathizes with the protesters, including right- and left-leaning national media.
